Online A Level Physics Tuition
Get Better At Physics provides online A-Level Physics tuition for Year 12 and Year 13 students. Sessions combine clear explanations, mathematical problem-solving, topic-specific past-paper practice and practical exam technique, with 1:1 and small-group options available.
Who is this tuition for?
-
Any student that has transitioned from GCSE to A Level Physics.
-
Also suitable for students who are resitting Physics.
-
You do NOT need to be studying Maths alongside Physics.
-
With ample resources from all exam boards, it doesn't matter which one you study.
Common difficulties in A Level Physics
-
The transition from GCSE to A Level Physics can be stark, difficult and disenfranchising. For many students this leads to confidence that is gradually eroded.
-
There's no getting away from it, Maths is the language of Physics. However, if you do not study Maths, you should NOT be put-off. The skills required can be learned, and you can improve.
-
Questions are harder than GCSE, with more information to assess, convert, and fit in to a multi-step solution.
All of these difficulties are addressed in our sessions.
What happens in a typical session
-
Students are guided through each (sub)topic using their particular exam board's specification, which is at the heart of most sessions. It's how we both know what to study, in what order to study it, and what not to study.
-
I encourage discussion over 'sit and listen'. It is important that the student engages, speaks about their reasoning and asks questions.
-
Plenty of past-paper question practice. This enables both me and the student to assess understanding, which in turn increases student confidence or highlights gaps in knowledge.
Common Questions
Do you tutor both year 12 and year 13? Yes. Absolutely. You'll get continuity right the way through.
Can you help with Paper 3 and practical skills? Of course. In fact, I dedicate sessions to those particular skills.
Can you support a student who does NOT study A Level Maths? Absolutely. Although it helps, it is not necessary to study Maths as well as Physics. The small range of mathematical skills needed are practiced every session.
Do you follow a rigid programme of study throughout the year? Small group sessions follow a programme for a number of weeks at a time, but it is not rigid and can be changed depending on what the students are currently learning. 1:1 sessions are the most personalised and so do not follow any specific programme.
